Hjerting Badehotel still bears clear traces of the stately and opulent style that characterized many larger houses and buildings in the 1910s, but today it stands with the same ease and tranquility as a classic Danish seaside hotel - carefully renovated, true to its history and furnished with a contemporary eye for aesthetics and function. The seaside hotel building is a timeless meeting between the grandeur of the past and the simplicity of the present.
The hotel's main building is located at the front, parallel to the coastline, and houses the hotel's main common rooms and lounges. This is where the day's meals are served with a view of the sea - in time with the rhythm of the day and the movement of the sun across the sky. To the southeast, where the sun rises, you'll find the heart of the hotel in the form of the kitchen. Here you have a direct view of the kitchen, where life buzzes and the smells spread. This is where you can feel the pulse of the place - where you stay when you want to take part in the everyday life of the hotel, such as at breakfast and lunch.
Well hidden in the corner of the house facing Hjerting's main street is a small local gathering place - formerly called Ship Inn, today known as KIOSK. A small pocket where people meet over simple things: a good cup of coffee, a warm sourdough bun with butter and cheese, the sweet pastries of the day or a cool refreshment. It's where the local chatter goes and where people meet outside the home when it's time for a quiet moment or a conversation with those they know - or those they don't yet.
To the north are the beach rooms. Here, guests are welcomed into the nicer rooms with the finest sea views and a special light. You can sit in small rooms or niches, or gather in larger groups. This is also where you can enjoy a cool drink and savory snacks in the hotel's wine bar.
There's room for contemplation - with a good book, the day's newspaper, a board game or just a little peace and quiet at your desk while the wood-burning stove crackles in the background. In the quiet hours of the afternoon, the room can also be the setting for tea time - an informal and cozy respite where you can enjoy a quiet moment with tea and small treats.
When the house really fills up - for large parties and festive occasions - the old hall is used. Here, the double doors open directly onto the North Sea and the room is transformed into an elegant setting for life's great moments.
When travelers arrive, they are greeted by a large hall with high ceilings and a warm welcome from the hotel's hosts. From here, your stay continues to one of the 35 rooms or one of the 16 guesthouses surrounding the main building.
As the name suggests, the sea is the focal point of Hjerting Badehotel. Whatever the season, the proximity to the water is felt throughout the hotel - a quiet reminder of the rhythm of nature and the special tranquility of the place.
For the warmer months, it's natural to head outside. Beach chairs, paddle boards, sea kayaks, and maps of hiking routes are at the ready - tools to make the sea and beach the most important living space of the day.
When the weather changes and the wind picks up, raincoats, rubber boots and umbrellas are ready for trips to Marbæk Plantage. Grab one of the hotel's bikes for the ride or simply enjoy a brisk stroll to the hotel's closest neighbor: the North Sea.
After a dip in the sea or a windy day, you can warm up in the hotel's sauna, located in the bathing and wet room. With a bathrobe, slippers and Yroli products, it's a popular place to find peace and warmth, whatever the season.
"Hjerting Badehotel has always been our second home - a house where we have hosted high and low for more than 20 years. Every new guest, every familiar face, every arrival delights us."
